WHY (un)fair
(un)fair was born as an ironic denial of the original concept of fair.
(un)fair wants to be the out-of-the-box kind of contemporary art fair. It aims to offer new ways of interacting with the art world, involving and creating new generations of collectors and supporting the art system, galleries and artists who are writing the history of our days.
HISTORY
(un)fair is young and bold. It was born in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, in a period in which Italy and many other countries have been living on stand-by, waiting for the end of a prolonged lockdown that also forced the art world to take a break and think of new routes.
(un)fair reacts and works for a fresh restart and managed to launch a successful first edition of this new format in 2022, in Milan, at Superstudio Maxi.(un)fair wants to create a space for new relationships, it works outside the box to bring a new and wide audience closer to contemporary art, supporting at the same time galleries, artists and today art production.

We ♡ galleries.
(un)fair offers a platform for the development of the art market. By engaging a new audience of potential collectors and offering a new interactive space, it supports contemporary art galleries and artists of our days.
Welcome new collectors!
With its innovative format, (un)fair is the perfect place to start collecting contemporary art and discover new artists. The contemporary proposal with “collectible” works presented by local and international galleries – often offered on preview – make (un)fair an event not to be missed out.
What is the contemporary?
(un)fair speaks contemporary. All the works at (un)fair are art projects by contemporary artists, both emerging and established, and deal with topics that portray our everyday life: a way of seeing new interpretations of the reality that surrounds us and discovering how art closely affects us.
Artist*.
Although gender equality has been in the spotlight recently and that such discussion has been brought up into different areas, the art world seems not to have fully become aware of the issue and female artists are still misrepresented.
(un)fair undertakes to respect a fair gender balance and takes concrete steps towards change, also provoking the galleries and partners involved to take this aspect into consideration.
Sustainability.
(un)fair is committed to sustainability. It arises from an economically sustainable model: it is sustainable for galleries and it is sustainable for collectors.
Superstudio Maxi, the venue in which (un)fair will take place, is Superstudio Group’s new location and it was born with a sustainable mission, a very low energy impact and employing 100% renewable energy. It is also the first event location to be LEED certified in Italy and Europe.
Off line e on line.
After more than a year of restrictions on events, it is important for (un)fair to rediscover and help people gain again a “face-to-face” social dimension. For this reason, this event has the precondition to be offline and to have a physical presence, in accordance with the safety regulations. The virtual and online life will be an extension and not a replacement of (un)fair activities.
